After weeks and weeks of hard work, I've prepared a new release of iVend for you to try. It's available at: http://hww3.riverweb.com/ivend/dist/ivend-1.0.25.tar.gz Please note that the dns entry for this server has changed in the past week, so your dns may be caching old data. For a sample store running the latest release of ivend, point your browser at the folowing URL: http://www.computergadgets.com/ This release has been tested with Roxen 1.2 final and 1.3.31. Please remember that you need the RSA.pmod patch for iVend to compile properly under Roxen 1.2. This current code is being used in production without too much trouble, although some features are still a little lean. I recommend starting with a fresh installation of iVend, as some files are incompatible with previous releases. What's new in this release: * In short, a lot! * Error handling should be improved. iVend should always load, even if there are SQL database problems. In the past, this was a problem, causing the store to disappear. iVend will now attempt a reconnect if the db connection has disappeared. * The code has been optimised quite a bit, and has been made more consistent internally. * Code has been made more modular, to allow future expansion. * iVend should now be thread safe, although this hasn't been tested extensively. * Several new features have been added to the config interface. * Shipping handling has been rewritten. Each shipping type may be calculated using a different method, allowing more flexible shipping setup. * Actions and events have been implimented. This is not well documented yet, but is a very nice new feature to allow code to be run when certain events occur (like order confirmation, new session creation, etc). * New store creation is now wizard based, and will do most of the setup for you. * Custom tag, container, and action library has been implimented. This allows you to create custom tags and containers for iVend without having to modify the ivend engine. The tags are during store startup, and can be reloaded through the admin interface. Actions are registered at store startup, and are run as events are triggered. Right now, you'll have to see the source for more information. * Many many many smaller bugs squashed. * Configuration files have changed. You must start with a clean installation this time around. * All in all, this release *should* be considerably more stable than previous releases. As always, your comments and suggestions are always welcome! Tell your friends, test and enjoy! Bill -- Bill Welliver Systems Administrator, Riverweb CIS hww3@riverweb.com
